On Binlerce Kağnı
In his stories, Fakir Baykurt deals with problems such as the harshness of village life, poverty, ignorance, bigotry, superstition and exploitation, and deals with the material and spiritual world of the villagers from a socialist and realistic perspective. Based on observations and live testimonies, the author occasionally uses a humorous language by bringing daily spoken language into the story; It strikingly depicts the "ordinary person" who is stuck between the wheels of bureaucracy but harbors hope within him, together with the atmosphere of the place he lives in.
We are bringing together the readers of Tens of Thousands of Kagni, which was first published in 1971:
"He was walking around with gossip. The inside of the village was turbulent. They saw Kara Hafiz with Çil Fadime among the hens in Yuklu. Kara Hafiz was already a hungry man. He had worn out his own wife and started to live off her wife. Çil Fadime was also a sweet woman. Kara Hafiz When he calls, he runs.
Does smoke come from where there is no fire? If the wind does not blow, they saw Hafiz and Fadime among the hens in Harimlar. Now they are meeting in Urkus' sheep shed. She cast a spell on her husband. Fadime was also burning. She arrived at Urkus's lamb house before Hafiz. Everyone in the village heard the rumors. But maybe the old wives and young brides of the village did not hear it. When he sees the man, he coughs, he tries to make him understand, but not everyone can understand a cough or a sneeze!..."
