Müşterek 21.Yüzyılda Devrim Üzerine Deneme
“Commons” is the name given to some natural assets, information and relationships that are independent of both private and public property, open to people's use and under their responsibility. This commons model, which was valid in a wide geography before the spread of private property in the 19th century, was updated by Nobel Prize-winning economist Elinor Ostrom in the 1970s and gave rise to new discussions.
Common refers to the common demand of movements in different parts of the world that criticize the capture of natural resources, spaces, public services, information and communication networks by a small minority. It is seen as a political principle that unites anti-capitalists and political ecology movements that oppose the capture of the commons by the market and the state, brings together research and struggles on the collective management of natural resources and information networks, and gathers around new democratic forces that claim to replace political parties and representation mechanisms.
According to the authors, the common does not depend on the essence of people or the nature of things, but on the activity of people: It is only the "commoning" activity of people that can produce binding rules that will ensure that something is reserved for common use. In this sense, the common is a call for society to establish itself.
Dardot and Laval, who criticize neoliberal mind and practices in their work The New Mind of the World, published in Turkey in 2012, propose to consider the theme of commons not only as a feature of some entities, but as the basic principle of alternative policies in the 21st century. This study of political philosophy, which has aroused wide interest not only in France but worldwide, offers a fundamental contribution to the history and currentness of the commons debate.
