Ayse Leman Karaosmanoğlu is a woman who had the opportunity to observe this change closely during the years when the young Republic of Turkey was changing its shell, and even managed to make a place for herself among the male figures of change... The daughter of a pasha, the sister of a politician and the wife of an ambassador. Bahar Gökpinar brings to light the private archive of Leman Hanim, the wife of writer Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, one of the important political figures of her period, through her feminist biography. He takes his work, which takes into account the problems of biography writing and the obstacles brought by the complex relationship between the biographer and his object, to a different place from other biographies by constructing it in a line that starts from its object and reaches itself. Gökpinar, who makes Leman Hanim's social circle as well as her relationship with Yakup Kadri visible through both photographs and letters, tells a life story that has not been told until today, without losing her feminist perspective. She tries to make sense of a woman whom Yakup Kadri calls "my dear rival", who mostly prefers to stay in the background and remain ambiguous among the important male figures in her life, through the legacy she left behind. In doing so, it sheds light not only on Ms. Leman's position as a historical subject, but also on her identity as a woman. In this way, by following the memories of Ms. Leman, which she had captured in her ninety-six years of life, in her private space, which she carefully collected, she conveys to the reader important scenes from the socio-cultural history of the period.
