- This work is divided into three parts: In the First Book, the author describes his homeland and the administration of this country. Then, a summary of the ancient and medieval history of Persia is given. Book Two describes the wars between Persians and Turks; The Third Book deals with the author's travel from Isfahan to Western countries. The author left Persia in 1599 as one of four ambassadors sent by Shah Abbas to European princes under the guidance and personal direction of Sir Anthony Sherley. Persian Don Juan was a Shiite Muslim at that time and bore the name Oruç Bey. “Relaciones” is considered to be the first source written in the West regarding the East.
