Author: Judith Butler, Athena Athanasiou
"When a person acts with the emotions aroused by what he sees, feels and learns, he always finds himself thrown somewhere else, to another scene or to a social world in which he is not at the center. This type of dispossession leads to action and resistance, to becoming visible with others and demanding an end to injustice." We consider it as a form of sensitivity that opens up injustice, and it is the systematic dispossession of peoples, for example, through forced migration, unemployment, homelessness, occupation and conquest, that is, some populations of the collectivities we are involved in, are deprived of collective belonging and justice. We consider how it can oppose systematically dispossessing forms of dispossession.”
The articles in this book emerged as a result of the dialogue carried out by the two authors in the months between the heyday of the Egyptian revolution and the period when the Left in Greece showed serious opposition to neoliberal austerity policies.
In particular, Athena Athanasiou, inspired by Irigaray's work, Heidegger's critique of technology, Foucault's concept of biopolitics and post-Lacanian psychoanalysis, and Judith Butler, inspired by Foucault and speech act theory, gender theory, queer activism and heterodox psychoanalysis, sometimes with ideas. By reaching unity and sometimes falling into disagreement, “What makes political sensitivity possible?” They pursue the question.
