Mrçünneru Verçaluysı - Armenian Book Description< /h2>
The Ants' Sunset is one of the peaks of the Armenian novel in the 20th century. In this novel, which is considered his masterpiece, Biberyan presents a slice of the life of Turkish Armenians in the 1940s and 50s, on a family axis. A father who was crushed under the "Wealth Tax" and lost everything he had, family members who put these difficult conditions in his face, and son Baret, who could not find anything as he left it when he returned after three and a half years of difficult Nafia military service. In the character of Baret, the author presents a young man's struggle to adapt to rapidly changing social conditions and his individual conflicts in a striking, simple language, and reveals how the political developments in the country affect the minorities, from the mouths of different novel characters. With the vividness of a tragedy, Biberyan describes the difficulties experienced by the souls shaped by the Catastrophe in connecting to the life that goes by, the dark side of the family that turns around and destroys its members and itself, and the damage caused to people by the sense of security that is interrupted by a major political earthquake every ten years.
