The Count of Monte Cristo - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Alexandre Dumas (père) (1802-1870): Although he experienced the political and social turmoil that surrounded Europe in the nineteenth century, he wrote more than three hundred novels, mostly about the historical events of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He is one of the most loved and most read romantic writers of his time. The Count of Monte Cristo was first serialized in the Journal des Débats in 1844 and presented an inexhaustible archetype to the Western cultural world. This work, which has been adapted to cinema, theatre, television and even computer games and has been composed about, takes place during the Restoration Period of France, when the King and his supporters were worried about Napoleon's return. The slandered Sailor Edmond Dantès suddenly loses his lover Mercedes, his father and his freedom in this whirlpool of suspicion. He manages to get out of this period, full of painful and terrible experiences, with a twist of fate and perseverance. Now he is powerful, knowledgeable and rich, and he has only one thing on his mind: to do what God's justice requires. Disguised as a mysterious count from the East, he hovers over Paris society like an avenging angel, but his revenge will change not only the lives of his enemies but also the lives of innocents.
