French Influences on Modern Turkish Poetry

In the modernization process that started with the Tanzimat period, it was unthinkable that the influences coming from the 'outsider' would not affect the poets of this geography, which is in connection with French poetry, such as Tevfik Fikret, Ahmet Hâsim, Yahya Kemal, Cahit Sitki Taranci, Orhan Veli, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpinar, Ahmet Muhip Diranas, Ilhan Berk.

French influences have played a fundamental role in determining the road map and even the poetics of our modern poetry, as well as the intellectual and literary formations of our poets.
