Mimarlık Üzerine Vitruvius
Vitruvius's work titled De Architectura (On Architecture) is a collection of ten books that basically provides extensive and collective information about the theory and practice of architectural art in the Roman period. Due to its universal approach to the principles and education of architecture, it is the only book on the history of classical Western architecture that has survived from ancient times. Since it also included architectural engineering at that time, it can be considered the only work in the history of engineering. In addition, considering that the subjects in the work consist of Greek and Roman temples, public buildings, baths, houses, and even the exterior and interior designs of all these buildings, the plasters of their walls, reliefs, colorful paints and floors with different patterns, this work is a reflection of both classical Western archeology and historical significance. It is the only corpus from which art history can obtain information about this period. In fact, especially classical archeology owes the source of the scientific language, style and terminology it uses today to this work. For this reason, the only reference book that those who deal with these sciences during the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and up to the present day, look back to when they want to know the history of the subjects they deal with is On Architecture.
