Michael Bakunin
Bakunin lived in debt throughout his life. He wanted to be next to the revolution and change. He was always excited; He was a good orator and a persuasive man of action. He was declared persona non grata in many countries. He was as dreamy as a child; He persuaded everyone he met to recruit them into his secret organizations, most of which never existed. He was exiled and constantly followed. He loved steak, was a tobacco smoker, and cursed authority with gleeful laughter. Despite all kinds of disappointments, he did not give up and desired to be the main actor of the revolution and life. He told countless lies and believed most of them. He wrote thousands of letters and traveled all over Europe. He got angry and left many of the books and brochures he started to write unfinished. Bakunin died as one of the most interesting activists and symbols of anarchism in human history.
A unique portrait of Bakunin by the famous researcher Edward Hallett Carr, an expert on Russian and Soviet history...
His hostility to the state came from his belief in individual human nature. “Exercising authority corrupts, submitting to authority degrades,” he said. Based on the idea that "every state, just like every theology, considers human beings as fundamentally evil and sinful", he saw the state as "the most open, most cynical, most complete denial of humanity".
