It was compiled and compiled into a book by the Athenian philosopher Dimitrios Falireas, the founder of the Library of Alexandria. No trace remains of this work. His most famous successor is La Fontaine, who was largely inspired by Aesop in 124 of the 238 tales he collected in 12 books. Aesop, who described the Delphic oracles as fraud, was slandered by the priests, accused of theft and sentenced to death.
