Mario and the Magician / Collected Stories II brings together Thomas Mann's late stories, including the much-loved "Mario and the Magician", which gives its name to this book.

The author's late period stories, written between 1919 and 1943, have a different theme than the early period stories published in Zor Saat, the first volume of Collected Stories. The author, who focuses more on the artist problem in his stories in Difficult Hour, uses his power of observation in the second volume, Mario and the Magician, this time to describe the deepest, most hidden emotions of a sharp person.

Mario and the Magician is precise, clear and direct. It is an admirable mature work by Nobel Prize winner Thomas Mann, who brought a new style to German storytelling with his language.

He was keeping everyone waiting, this is probably the correct expression. He was increasing the tension by delaying his appearance on stage. This attitude was understandable, but not forever. Towards nine thirty the audience began to applaud - applauding was a cute way of expressing their justified impatience, as it also expressed the desire to applaud. For the little ones, taking part in it was all part of the fun. Every child loves to clap.
