In Three Rooms in Manhattan, which tells the story of a love filled with passion and uncertainty, it is possible to see Simenon, who was going through the most turbulent period of his life at the time, and his lover Denyse, who would later become his wife, in the shadow of François and Kay. In the novel, the volatile relationship of François and Kay, who met by chance at a bar one night, takes place on the streets of Manhattan and mostly in the "three rooms". Famous for reflecting the psychology of his heroes, Simenon presents the tides in question to the reader in all their dimensions in this dark novel. 

The book, which is one of the most read Simenon novels in the world and was adapted to the big screen, was translated into Turkish in 1972 by Oktay, one of the most valuable writers of our literature. Akbal made it happen. Akbal, who has previously translated a Maigret novel, is known to be interested in Simenon, and this makes Three Rooms in Manhattan even more special.
