Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil (1867-1945) As a member of the well-known Uşakizade Family, he spent his childhood in Istanbul and his youth in Izmir. He studied Arabic and Persian in the old style. He grew up with Hafız-ı Şirazî's Divan and Mevlana's Mesnevi, which his intellectually minded father, Hacı Halil Efendi, did not put down.
