Mağdurun Dili
In The Language of the Victim, Nurdan Gürbilek wanders around the area where literature intersects with exclusion. It tries to understand how literature can shed light on the victimization that we often approach through clichés, and on the other hand, how the feeling of exclusion shapes literature. It examines how the conflict that Dostoyevsky calls "underground tragedy", being pushed into an underground made of both big dreams and hurt at the same time, affects the author's relationship with his readers. It discusses the wound of pride in literature, the arrogance of the writer, and moreover, why the reader persistently achieves victory from failure. Gürbilek searches for answers to these questions in the light of the works of Dostoyevsky, Oğuz Atay, Yusuf Atilgan and Cemil Meriç.
