Lazarus Projesi
On March 2, 1908, a nineteen-year-old immigrant; Lazarus Averbuch was killed in the house of the Chicago police chief, claiming to be an anarchist assassin.
A century later, the young writer Brik, who emigrated from Sarajevo and settled in America, pursued the story of Lazarus, taking his childhood friend, photographer Rora, with him.
br>Another story chasing one story got mixed up somewhere in the middle of the Balkans.
The Lazarus Project is an intertemporal dialogue, ranging from the suffering of immigrant souls to the funny adventures of indecisive heroes, in which black and white photographs watch the events as if sitting in a witness chair from the pages on the left.
"Although Hemon's writing reminds us of Nabokov at times, His ingenuity in reinventing the narrative is an astonishing talent that will leave the Russians behind... Magnificent... Interesting... Ambitious..."
James Wood, The New Yorker.
