Kutadgu Bilig
Yusuf Has Hacib (c. 1019-1085): Yusuf of Balasagun is among the most important Turkish poets and thinkers of the 11th century. Information about him is largely based on the statements in his work Kutadgu Bilig. He lived during the Karakhanid period. He completed his work, which he started to write in Balasagun, in Kashgar, and presented it to the Karakhanid ruler Ulu Buğra Khan and was awarded the title of has hacip. It is understood that he received a good education and knew Arabic, Persian and pre-Islamic Turkish culture well. In his work, Yusuf Has Hacib focused on the quality of statesmen, how the relations between the individual, society and the state should be organized, and suggested goodness, virtue and rationality in accordance with the traditional values of the society in which he lived.
