Kürtlerde Dil Edebiyat ve Kültür
On the one hand, due to the fact that written Kurdish Literature is weak and does not reach the people at the base, and on the other hand, because the literacy rate of the people is very low, Kurdish language literature and culture have survived orally and have survived until today.
The biggest share in the survival of the Kurdish language to the present day belongs to dengbejs, tale tellers (chirok), madrasahs providing education in Kurdish, and mothers living in rural areas.
The death of a language means the death of a society. Language is the carrier and spreader of culture. Language is a means of agreement and exchange. Language is the weapon of the oppressed. Because it is very light and invisible. Anyone with a throat has that weapon. It is a powerful weapon that even the most brutal weapons cannot cope with. People who forget their language may not only be defeated, but may also become slaves. Everyone should protect their native language as a priceless treasure. He must preserve his words in his mind like a ruby, a diamond, or an emerald.
Banning language means banning thought, science and art. In short, it is to ban people and life. To date, 6000 languages have been identified in the world. Today this number is less than 3000. Every dying language is equivalent to the death of a culture and a people. There are approximately 50 languages and dialects in Turkey. Among the world languages, Turkish is ranked 23rd and Kurdish is ranked 26th. February 21 has been accepted as 'World Language Day' by the United Nations. 14-15-16 May has been accepted as 'Kurdish Language Day' by TZP-Kurdi.
According to scientific research, an individual who is educated in his/her native language is 4 to 8 times more successful, productive and happy than an individual who is educated in other languages...
We are grateful and indebted to all the personalities who have brought written and oral Kurdish literature to the present day. Each of them is a warrior of language, literature and culture. We included some of their personalities in this anthological book with their biographies and works. You will see that the lives of most of these figures were spent in poverty and suffering, just like the general life of the Kurds. We had dozens of writers and artists that we could not include. We apologize to them too.
What we wrote or failed to write are our values. It is our veterans who carry us from yesterday to today and tomorrow. To the extent that we protect these values, we protect our language, literature and history... The book you have in your hand could have been more detailed and comprehensive. The process and conditions we are in have only allowed us to do so much.
