Dictionary of Kurdish Mythology

Three basic methods were used in this study. First, to consider mythological names or events in a context related to current culture. Although not for every mythological name, it was tried to convey, as much as possible, the evolutionary stages through which the mythological names, events and situations that were transferred reached the present day, and how they are reflected in social culture, belief, tradition or behavior today. This was the basic method of making the work productive and educational by removing it from an abstract perception for the reader. In other words, it was necessary for the reader not to be limited to just learning mythological names, but to be able to read them with a vivid perception, and to learn the projections and reflections of the beliefs and traditions of thousands of years ago in today's culture, in order to understand the importance of mythology. At this point, it will be seen that the issues are discussed based on the perspective and method of social and cultural anthropology. Cultural anthropology is generally considered as the study of the beliefs and institutions (culture) of a group, which are considered as the basis of social structures and discussed in terms of their relationship with personality. In this study, we tried to make visible the stages through which the beliefs and cultures of the proto Kurds reached today, as well as which factors were the basic structures in shaping the Kurdish social existence.
