"Mehmet Bayrak was accused of many different allegations due to the Özgür Gündem Magazine, which he published in 1988-89, and the books and articles he wrote. Not only Mehmet's writings and research on the Kurdish Question, but also everything he wrote about the history, culture, language or art of the Kurds were subject to litigation. Today, if there is a relative progress on these issues, it is due to writing, speaking and researching, despite all kinds of pressure and threats of punishment, like Mehmet Bayrak. I must say this right away; Mehmet Bayrak's attitude at the hearing during the trials was never the classical "defendant" attitude. Because normally, the defendant defends himself and tries to prove that he did not commit a crime. Mehmet, on the contrary, never defended himself. His attitude was completely that of a teacher. He especially targets the Prosecutor's Office (C. Prosecutor) and tries to explain his thoughts in the book or article on trial to everyone, including the Court Panel, like a teacher, and tells the audience that Kurdish . He would explain his problem from different dimensions. The court's attitude towards Mehmet Bayrak was also very different from the attitude towards defendants in normal cases. They would not interrupt Mehmet's words as much as possible. The defenses would be both instructive and seasoned with examples and anecdotes. "Nâzım was a poet who did not discriminate between people based on language, religion, race or color. He looked at society from a class perspective. Some Kurdish intellectuals criticized Nazım, saying that he was interested in all the people of the world, but did not show enough interest in the Kurdish people. On the other hand, well-known Kurdish researcher Mehmet Bayrak claimed that these criticisms were not appropriate and that Nazım Hikmet wrote a letter to Kurdologist Kamuran Bedirhan and explained his thoughts about the Kurdish people, and published this letter in Özgür Gündem magazine. In this letter, Nazım defends the equality and brotherhood of the Kurdish and Turkish people. From this letter, a lawsuit was filed against Mehmet Bayrak and I defended M. Bayrak in the Supreme Court as the defense in this case; In the end, the Court decided to acquit M. Bayrak…” (Atty.
