Kurgulanmış Benlikler/Otobiyografi, Clz
In Constructed Selves, Nazan Aksoy reads our recent history from the language of the women who witnessed that period and from their autobiographies. The general focus of women's autobiographies, especially those published in recent years, is modernization and specifically the history of the Republic.
Through a close reading, it focuses on the questions of what problems come to the fore in the lives of female autobiographers and in what ways these stories are similar to Western examples of the autobiography genre and where they differ. Constructed Selves tells the stories of women who established their identities within the modernization project, benefited from the opportunities this project offered to women, and acquired such a profession and identity.
Based on autobiographies, Nazan Aksoy provides the Republic with the opportunity to look at the place of women in society, one of the fundamental issues of Turkish modernization, from the eyes of women.
