Introduction to Global Politics

We live in a time when the world around us and its knowledge are transforming at a rapid pace. All our knowledge from the previous century is rapidly becoming invalid, and interdisciplinary distinctions within social sciences are blurring. International migration, global economic crises, global environmental problems, energy crises, the deepening of supranational formations, and new forms of war lead to the spread of claims that establish the discipline of international relations and distinguish it from other disciplines, and that the distinction between inside and outside is not valid. Although sovereignty continues to be protected as a legal status, all these transformations cause sovereignty to transform as a political capacity. Global law, which has begun to bring new principles and rules in almost all areas, from economy to politics, from management to administrative structuring, from human rights to environmental problems, from use of force to criminal justice, from sports to culture, from science and art to education, means that states are limited not only in their external but also in fact their internal sovereignty. This work, which is the joint product of the young generation of academics from different universities in Turkey, is not only a reference book for university students, but also offers an enjoyable journey for all readers who want to follow the adventure of international relations transforming into global politics.
