Kurds and the Right to Determine Their Future

“In my opinion, the word fate in the principle of 'The Right of Nations to Self-Determination' is not the right word. The statement 'The Right of Nations to Determine Their Future' is much more accurate. The word fate brings to mind an unknown, divine power. Your destiny has been determined by a divine power and you cannot change it. 'Our destiny is written on our foreheads', 'We live what is written in our destiny'.

Destiny is an abstract concept. You cannot change it and you have to bow to it and endure it. The concept of the future is not like this. Future is a more concrete concept. People can determine their own future. By working and using their will, they can change today's negative conditions and

They can build a more positive future. It is up to man to work and use his will. But it is not in a person's power to change the destiny determined by a divine power. “So it is with nations.”
