Kublai Khan - Hardcover Book
Kublai Khan (1215-1294), born during the rise and expansion of the Mongols, was among the grandchildren furthest from the dream of power when his empire was divided among his sons after the death of his grandfather, Genghis Khan. However, thanks to his mother Sorgotani Beki, who stepped in with a smart alliance strategy and appropriate moves, he was lucky enough to become the Great Khagan and head the Mongols in 1260. He expanded the empire he took over with new conquests, making it the largest state in history with its uninterrupted territory stretching from the Pacific coast to Central Europe. These conquests led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of people.
