Philosophy and Resistance in Crisis
This is a book about global crisis and the right to resistance, neoliberal biopolitics and direct democracy, the responsibility of intellectuals and the poetry of the multitude. Based on the example of Greece, Costas Douzinas argues that the protests, uprisings and revolutions that broke out one after another radically changed the political landscape. This new politics is the last example of the urge to resist, that permanent feature of the human spirit.
The European Union and the IMF used Greece as a guinea pig to test the conditions for rebuilding society in times of crisis. However, various resistances turned the object of this experiment into a political subject, and thus the plans of the elite were turned upside down: The idea of democracy and its borders are being redefined in the place where it was born!
