Peasants Book Description The Peasants is the last novel of Honoré de Balzac, the master writer of realistic literature, which he describes as "the greatest of the books I have decided to write", but says that it took him eight years to have the courage to write "all these details that make up this terrible and bloody drama". Peasants takes place in a countryside called Aigues, in the Burgundy region of France.
