Körburun
"Soon the sun would rise. The sleeping crickets would wake up, the tired ones would fall asleep, people would get out of their beds and go to the breakfast table. Judging by the stars, it would be a cloudless, windless, warm day. First, a whistle would be heard from afar. Then, the city lines ferry would approach the pier, emitting foam that would make the scent of the seaweed rise. Its interior would smell like tea and diesel. It would be collected immediately after the ropes were laid; the ferry would not wait long at Körburun because it would most likely have no passengers other than Seher. >
Körburun is an island that is both distant and close… It is an extension of the off-the-beaten path, introverted yet nearby mainland. His slow-moving life, out of sight for generations, tells us a story that we are no strangers to. In Körburun, where the days spent with our old "oh, how beautiful neighbors" are becoming more and more introverted, a life in which the imposition of its own rules becomes harder as it becomes more introverted, the noisy things become silent, and the daily sounds turn into noise.
Hikmet Tümenoğlu tries the "great novel" in Körburun, where he tells the loves, ambitions and disappointments of three generations, and directs us to look at where the story hangs the individual.
