Blind Owl - World Classics-Hardcover
Sadık Hidayet's novel, The Blind Owl, which is considered to be one of the unique works of modern Iranian literature, is a work in which he and the intellectuals he represents deal with their disconnection from the society to which they are intellectually attached. In his novel, Hidayet draws on Iranian folk literature and combines the materials he takes from it with modern literature, touching on poverty, despair, darkness and topics that no one dared to talk about until his time.
The Blind Owl consists of spiral subjects and is written in a surrealist style. And also; With its many symbols and images, it is full of mysteries that literary critics are still trying to solve today.
Although this work, which was born from Hidayet's fear of death, bears the traces of the Western writers he was influenced by, it overshadowed even the pens he was influenced by with his original style. In this work, while reflecting his longing for ancient Iranian history and thought, Hidayet wrote about the mental crisis experienced by people, especially intellectuals, and the natural difficulties of searching for a place in time and space.
