Bridge Books 14 - The Stork is in the Air Book Description The 14th book of the Bridge Books collection is written by Leyla Ruhan Okyay, who is loved in our contemporary literature for her stories that tell people from different segments of society in a simple language and sincerely. The collection, edited by Semih Gümüş and prepared for publication by Müren Beykan, aiming to introduce young people to literature by offering different reading experiences, was crowned with the 2010 Memet Fuat Publishing Award. The novel, which tells the story of a girl who grew up in a coastal town and went to Istanbul to study as a boarding student, about her longing to travel and see the world, also bears traces of the author's life. The book, which expresses the emotional complexity of the transition from childhood to adolescence in a memoir-like and warm manner, conveys scenes from youth dreams of a period, school life, and dialogues between friends. The book, which is a cross-section of Turkey in the 1960s, also bears witness to the historical events that took place in Europe at the time. Living in Silivri on the Marmara coast, Ayça's biggest dream is to be a tourist. He takes great care of the tourists passing through the town in the summer. His interest in the Aegean, his holiday companion from Istanbul, also fuels his passion for English. When she passes the free boarding exam and enrolls in a girls' high school in Istanbul, she first becomes happy. However, he finds himself in a difficult boarding life that is very different from his dreams. Fortunately, one day, incredible news comes from his father. (From the Promotional Bulletin)
