The Ankara government, having received news of some "disorder" events that took place on March 6, 1921 in Sivas-Ümraniye, known as the center of the Koçgiri Tribe, declared customary administration in the region in order to establish public order and prevent the events from escalating, and appointed an army under the command of Nurettin Pasha and sent it to the region. The intense violent practices during the suppression operation were put on the agenda of the Parliament as a result of the complaints made, and a committee named "Koçgiri Investigation Committee" was sent to the region to examine the situation on-site and to identify the perpetrators of the events and those responsible for the tragic situation that emerged after the military operation.

Dilek Kizildag Soileau comprehensively discusses the Koçgiri Rebellion, which went down in history as the "Koçgiri Rebellion" and is one of the important stops of both official history and Kurdish nationalist historiography, in many aspects: Whether it was a "Kurdish rebellion attempted to establish a Kurdish state" or not, Alevi It examines the Kurds' involvement in the events and whether the events qualify as a "rebellion". While doing this, he looks at the historical, social and cultural background as well as official documents. Koçgiri Rebellion is the first academic study in which the entire "Investigation Committee Report on the Koçgiri Incident" in the Parliament Archives was obtained and used.
