Klara Milic
Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev (1818-1883): He is among the 19th century Russian novelists whose works were first translated in Europe and in our country. Turgenev, who studied at the universities of Moscow, Petersburg and Paris, is remembered as the only Russian writer of his time with a European perspective. He conveyed the weak-willed Russian intellectuals, the life of the serfs, the loves of the landowning nobles, and the radical young generation to which he did not feel close, in his works in an impartial and realistic language. In Klara Miliç, which he wrote in 1882 and is one of his last works, Turgenev moves away from social issues and focuses on the eternal issues of humanity such as happiness, love, pain, death and the secrets of existence. Turgenev influenced many writers in our country as well as in the world, and Sabahattin Ali even referred to Klara Miliç in his work Madonna in a Fur Coat.
