Forty Years Ago Forty Years Later Ayancık
The conditions that Turkey is in show that a solidaristic, participatory and egalitarian municipality approach has become inevitable. The damage caused by today's social municipality approach, patented by the World Bank, which became increasingly widespread in the 80s with globalization, has reached a great extent in many countries, including Turkey. As it is known, with this practice, an urbanization based on profit and consumption was created and the urban poor became dependent on the municipality through aid. Man has been alienated from himself and his city, and nature has been brutally murdered. The municipality has entered the service of the market; Human beings have become cogs in the wheel of consumption.
In the construction of this new option, our past experience in socialist municipalism can be inspiring and guiding. From this perspective, the example of public municipalism put forward by Mr. Hasan KAYA, prepared by Volkan ATILGAN, not only reminds us of the past, but also offers a not at all modest contribution from the experience of a small district to the construction of a new understanding of municipalism.
I wish you all a good reading.
