Keşanlı Ali Destanı
The Keşanlı Ali Epic has been translated from language to language and staged in many countries of the world; integrated with its actor and audience; Moreover, it is a masterpiece that has pioneered Turkish theater for years.
In the play, which Haldun Taner calls "a parody of a heroic myth in a slum environment" and considered one of the best examples of modern epic theater, many features of our traditional performing arts are presented with a contemporary interpretation. The types created are so real, so vivid that they appear in socially and economically similar sections of almost every society. For this reason, Sineklidağ legends Keşanlı Ali and Zilha were always welcomed with the same interest and love wherever they were, whether in Istanbul, Berlin, London, Beirut and Budapest or Hamburg.
'Theatre thinker' Haldun Taner was talking about "starting from our traditions, our people and our subjects, and conveying all these with the data of the contemporary world in our own Turkish and a way of seeing unique to us"... This is what the great master said in the Epic of Keşanlı Ali. It fulfills.
