The autobiography genre, in which an author tells his or her own life story, is not a type of literature that is frequently written in Turkey. What is seen in most of the existing autobiographical works is that they are texts that lack the courage to reckon with themselves politically, socially and culturally. However, Gün Zileli is a clear exception to this: Zileli, who does not hesitate to reveal his life in almost all details in his five-volume autobiography published so far, completes his previous autobiography dating back to 2000 with this sixth volume; again with complete openness, without hesitation in confronting himself.
In Cities (2000-2013) deals with the last part of Gün Zileli's life story, from England to Switzerland and then to Turkey. The difficulties of living as an "immigrant", political activities carried out "outside", commune life, quite volatile romantic relationships, returning to the land of birth after twelve years, friends, memories, resentments, ruptures, loves, cats and dogs... All these in an honest and honest way. Zileli explains it in a careful way, and on the other hand, as in other volumes, he does not neglect to say his word about Turkish politics; by analyzing, criticizing, trying to interpret…
