The book in your hand brings together some of the articles written by Alan Duben over the last thirty years. In the articles that constitute the first part of the book, the results of the research carried out by the author in the slums of various cities of Turkey (Istanbul, Adana and Mersin) are presented by placing them in the context of theoretical issues on the subject: The relationship of the phenomenon of class formation in the neighborhood with different communities (especially Sunni and Alevi communities) and ties of citizenship. ; the social rationality of the process of owning a slum in the informal economy; The importance of family and kinship in Turkish cities and their connection with urbanization...
