The assumption that man is a rational being has only one flaw, and that is that it is wrong. Our brains don't work that way. People have been thinking about how they made decisions since the first day they made decisions. The general opinion is that we are logical and thoughtful creatures. Is that so? How does one make decisions?

Today, for the first time in human history, we can answer this question. We can look inside the brain and see how people think: The closed box is now open. But what came out of the box is that we are not rational beings. The mind is like a tangled network of different areas, and many of these areas are part of the emotion production process.

One of the most fundamental problems is that emotions and thoughts are seen as disconnected from each other. The aim of this book is to overcome this artificial binary opposition and answer two questions: “How does the human brain make decisions?” and “How can we make these decisions better?”
