Just like the characters he described in his novels, Joseph Conrad had an extraordinary bond with the sea. With this feeling, he spent his early youth on French merchant ships, and later found himself working in the British merchant fleet... And the following years of his youth were spent in those blue seas. Conrad makes this colonial criticism with such deep analysis and such humane descriptions that it is not for nothing that it is considered one of the darkest novels ever.
