The Brothers Karamazov is the last novel written before the death of the great writer Dostoyevsky, who left his mark on the 19th century, when Russian literature became "noble literature" with the Pushkins, Tolstoys and Turgenevs, by taking on the voice of poverty, helplessness, crime, the street and the "people". It is the culmination of all his literary output. The Brothers Karamazov can be compared to texts such as The Divine Comedy and Faust, rather than other examples of the novel genre, in terms of the author's treatment of the contradiction of faith and reason. Another importance of the novel is that it clearly reveals the deterioration in the Russian family structure (which Dostoyevsky had previously pointed out in his novel The Young Man).

The murder of an alcoholic, lustful, immoral father by one of his sons constitutes the story of the novel. However, even this murder will be only one of the grounds on which the concept of justice will be discussed. “If there is God, why is there no justice in the world?” The whole novel is like an expression that the question is also a reflection of deep pain. It will attract a wide readership from all over the world, including Freud, Einstein, Kafka, Camus and Sartre, and will pioneer new trends in literature and philosophy in the coming years. Yordam Kitap presents this great work in Turkish by master translator Leyla Soykut.
