Nabizade Nâzım's Karabibiki is the first successful example of both realism and naturalism and the village novel in our literature. The work, which conveys the village life, the villagers' problems and struggles through their language and life, takes place in Kaşın Beymelek village. Karabibik is a villager who tries to make a living with his daughter by cultivating his eight or ten acres of land. There is only one thing he dreams of, a pair of oxen. Nabizade Nâzım has masterfully reflected almost the entire life of the Anatolian peasant in this short story. Nabizade Nâzım (1862-1893) Nabizade Nâzım was born in Istanbul. His mother died when he was very young, and he lost his father when he was in primary school. Nabizade Nâzım, who received officer training, gave lectures at the Military Academy for a while. He then took on various military duties in Kaş, Syria and Monastery. He married Ayşe Naciye Hanım in 1891, but he died due to bone tuberculosis that he caught in the first months of his marriage. Becoming interested in literature at a very young age, Nabizade Nâzım's first article was published in Vakit in 1880, and later she wrote in literary magazines such as Treasure-i Evrak, Mirat-ı Alem, Maarif, Manzara, Berk and Servet-i Fünun, and newspapers such as Tercüman-ı Hakikat, Servet and Mürüvvet. and his works appeared. He adopts a Western-style, innovative approach in his poems. However, his poetry works were limited to a certain period of his literary life, and especially after 1890, he started to publish his stories written in a simple and natural style. Drawing attention with her translations, Nabizade helped introduce various Western literary movements and ideas to Turkish readers with her translations of Western writers and intellectuals such as Victor Hugo, Alfred de Musset, Chateaubriand, Alexandre Dumas Fils. What brought him real fame was his novel Zehra, with its long story called Karabibik. Karabibik is considered one of the first examples of realism and naturalism in our literature. Especially in his novel Zehra, he directly applied realism, and while writing the novel, he also conducted research on subjects such as the life of Istanbul tulumba players of that day, Şehzadebaşı theaters, and murder prosecution.
