Pound constructed the Cantos, consisting of 116 chapters, which he wrote mainly between 1915 and 1962, as a magnificent epic consisting of collages of world culture. Despite the fact that this giant poem was not completed and the poet's controversial political stance, especially during the Second World War, and the experimental technique he used, it is considered one of the cornerstones of modernist poetry.
Sudden transitions and breaks in the text, countless references to history, politics, economy and geography, and passages directly quoted from history books and letters turn reading the Cantos into a challenging but also interesting and enjoyable experience.
