The study titled 'Kadri Cemilpaşa: Portrait of a Kurdish Nationalist' examines the social and political transformations experienced by Kurds living within the borders of the Ottoman Empire starting from the 19th century, the 20th century Kurdish nationalist struggle and the life of Kadri Cemilpaşa, one of the prominent Kurdish nationalists of this period. The 20th century was a period when Kurdish nationalism slowly began to sprout. Especially after the First World War, the efforts made to build a new nation from the ashes of the collapsed empire were embodied in some local rebellions in Kurdistan. Kadri Cemilpaşa, who tried to play an active role in influencing Kurdish society with his nationalist ideas, took part either directly or indirectly in some of the Kurdish rebellions during the republican period and supported some independence struggles.
Since he envisioned an independent and united Kurdish state, he supported a number of Kurdish organizations working for the independence of not only the Kurds living in Turkey but also the Kurds residing in neighboring countries, and continued this effort for many years. However, as a result of all these efforts, he could not show any definitive success and could not achieve his goal.
