Fatalist Jacques and His Master - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics (Hardcover)
Denis Diderot (1713-1784): One of the most important writers and thinkers of the Enlightenment period. He became the editor-in-chief of the Encyclopédie, and in addition to writing literary and philosophical works, he translated them to earn a living. This work, which consists of philosophical conversations between Jacques and his master, about "fatalism", which had not yet been called "determinism" in Diderot's time, contains philosophical queries that can be considered ahead of its time, like Diderot's other works. Although the author himself states that it is not a "novel", Jacques the Fatalist and His Master remains close to the novel in terms of genre, while also saluting Tristram Shandy and Don Quixote, two very important examples of the art of the novel.
