Jurbins
“In 1917 the human ore had undergone a massive remelting process, getting hotter and hotter year by year, and now it was boiling and making bubbling sounds. had begun; A metal that the world had not yet seen was being cooked.”
In his novel Jurbinler, Vsevolod Koçetov describes the “human gem” that made the Soviet Union one of the world's two superpowers with its great achievements in economy, science and technology.
The Jurbin family, who has been working in shipbuilding for three generations, appears before us as warm-blooded representatives, devoted and hard-working workers of the rising socialist society... Although the tensions between mental and manual labor and the prejudices of male workers regarding the abilities of female employees still continue, all of these are related to socialist production relations. The belief that it will be resolved within the world and the progressive attitude are preserved.
Jurbins are a tribute to the Soviet working class and the values it represents, such as diligence, patriotism, humility, dedication and openness to development. The novel, which is one of the hidden treasures of the social realist literature movement, also has the quality of being "a document extending from the past to the present."
This interesting novel, which carries the spirit of the time to future generations, has been translated into various languages of the world. It was filmed by Soviet filmmakers in 1954 under the name "A Big Family" and received great acclaim at the Cannes film festival.
