The novel, which is one of the hidden treasures of the social realist literature movement, also has the quality of being "a document extending from the past to the present."

This interesting novel, which carries the spirit of the time to future generations, has been translated into various languages of the world. It was filmed by Soviet filmmakers in 1954 under the name "A Big Family" and received great acclaim at the Cannes film festival.
