In a period when different peoples within the Ottoman Empire wanted to achieve their independence under the influence of nationalism and as a result of great turmoil/upheavals, the Committee of Union and Progress, which was established at the end of the nineteenth century, highlighted Turkishness/Turkism in order to save the empire that was in the process of collapse; However, the cost of standing aside and dreaming of Turan in the conflict between the great powers was very high, and in the meantime, the ancient peoples of Anatolia suffered, as in most cases, cruelty, massacre and forced displacement. The new republic, established in 1923, had a Unionist mentality in its approach towards the Kurds. and attempts were made to "solve" the Kurdish issue with policies of denial/assimilation/dismissal. This book, which remains the main reference on the subject it deals with, describes the Committee of Union and Progress, one of the most interesting organizations that history has witnessed, based on documents and historical testimonies, and the rise of national consciousness among the Kurds. In the context of its awakening and development and in its relationship with the leading Kurdish figures and structures of the period, it brings the reader under the spotlight and provides insights that will enable the reader to evaluate the current situation more accurately.
