A cloud full of gloom descended on the city with seven hills, seven victims who breathed their last...

An extraordinary murder committed in the historical peninsula mobilizes Chief Inspector Nevzat. The murderer left an antique coin in the palm of his hand and gave some messages that he wanted to be deciphered on the victim's body. Victims who were part of the same murder ritual follow; All the victims have a coin in their hand, and each of them is left in front of a historical building dating from the reign of an emperor who lived in the city's heyday. The common feature of the victims is their betrayal of Istanbul. So what is the characteristic of the murderer?

We were looking at each other, at those we lost, together with our city.

Byzantium, Constantinople and Istanbul... Even though its owners and residents change, it acquires new names and takes on different characters, there is one thing that does not change in the historical peninsula; timeless beauty. In Istanbul Memory, Ahmet Ümit focuses on this beauty, which is now under threat, and while hypnotizing the reader with his high-voltage detective story, he also tries to revive the awareness of being an Istanbulite with the historical information he conveys.

We were looking at the city from the sea. Istanbul was in the fog... The sea in the fog... Our boat in the fog. What was seen were the minarets of Sultanahmet, the dome of Hagia Sophia, and the towers of Topkapi Palace. The city looked like it had never been looted, destroyed or polluted. Like a dream that appears for a moment before the sun rises... Like a magical cloud... Like a fairytale image... Like a newly founded city... Like a fresh start... Young, hopeful, beautiful...
