What I Hear What I See What I Know
Ms. Münevver Ayaşlı said, "To be able to see, to hear, and to narrate an era through narration and gossip is the greatest service to history and the historian. Let the historian sort through these writings, take what he wants, leave what he does not want." He is an Ottoman patron who strives to convey to the next generations what he has heard, wit, narrations, gossip, legends and as much truth as he knows.
Thanks to his deep-rooted family structure and his wife's important government services, many people from Abdülhak Hamid to Halide Edip Adıvar, from Mithat Cemal Kuntay to Asaf Halef Çelebi, from İsmail Hami Danişmend to Burhan Toprak, from Monsieur Massignon to Albert Gabriel. Perhaps the greatest contribution of Ayaşlı, who knew this important name very well, to both our memoir literature and our history and culture, is that he wrote down what he heard, saw and knew.
