Iraqi Kurds Book Description Although those who are reluctant to accept the constitutional reality of the Kurdistan region insist on calling it "Northern Iraq", today the Kurds in Iraqi Kurdistan are secure as a unique unit, capable of establishing partnerships with their neighbors inside and outside Iraq and determining their own future at an unprecedented level. They carry the feeling of living. Iraqi Kurds are often treated with "wholesale" judgments when viewed from the outside, and little attention is paid to the internal political and social realities that contribute to the construction of the Kurdish geopolitical reality in the international environment. How political parties work; how democratization processes are carried out; how young Kurds see their situation and future; How the people of the Kurdistan Region visualize their own identities and the identities of those living around them is crucial not only for Iraqi Kurdistan, but for the broader geopolitical scene consisting of the border regions of Iraq, Turkey, Syria and Iran. Concentrating on national identity issues, Mahir A. Aziz accepts that identities are mobile and changing, and that they need to be remembered and constantly changed and restructured, and focuses on those who are most frequently examined within the framework of Kurdish politics - that is, the political elite? Rather, it recruits people who will most likely be the engine of change and development in the future: university students. These are young people born in the autonomous Kurdistan Region, established in 1991, who are primarily exposed to a distinctly "Kurdish" narrative of culture, social processes, history and political development. How this segment of society views themselves, those around them and their future allows those interested in Iraq and the Kurdish area within or outside it to understand the current situation and the demands and aspirations of student youth in a vital region of a state of great geopolitical importance in the region and the world. Aziz's work therefore contributes not only to the literature on issues of nationalism and identity, but also to Iraqi Kurdistan, as well as to the broader field of Middle East politics and broader strategic and geopolitical concerns. Mahir A. Aziz is a faculty member at Selahaddin, Erbil and Kurdistan-Hawler Universities and the rector of SABİS University in Erbil.
