British Stagecoach
The British Stagecoach" is one of the interesting works of Thomas de Quincey, one of the 19th century British essayists and critics, written using the events he experienced. De Quincey, who first made his name with an essay "Confessions of an English Opium Junkie" published in 1821, expresses with a striking richness of association how his encounter with death, which he narrowly escaped from in his youth, in a car accident stimulated his imagination. The car journeys he took during his years as a student at the university are a starting point for him to describe in a surrealist manner not only the details of the class distinctions between university students and other passengers, but also the speed of the car, the characteristics of the seats and the horror of the violence. The strange events caused by its gift to the Chinese Emperor are conveyed to the readers in De Quincey's hands, with the gripping narration of "One Thousand and One Nights".
