When the Second World War ended, America was remembered with sympathy almost all over the world; He was remembered with a benevolent, protective and savior image. American military bases were rapidly established and spread in different regions and countries. America was on the side of its younger brothers against the great danger of the Soviets. The global political balance that transformed with the Cold War gradually changed this image. The proliferation of overseas American bases has created local and nationalist reactions since the sixties. It was claimed that the bases initially had no role other than providing logistical support to the military forces at certain points and helping the forces access new regions. It was later understood that the same bases turned into tools of pressure on host governments, especially in cases of conflict and when political tensions rose. American bases moved to the center of political discussions and became targets of left-wing and nationalist policies. While Demirel was making a statement at the time, "There are no bases in Turkey, there are facilities," he was speaking at exactly such a point and had to defend himself.

Incirlik Base has been a critical aspect of anti-Americanism and foreign policy debates in Turkey and is clearly identified with the American presence in the country. While describing Incirlik Base, Selin M. Bölme examines the changing political periods, the history of Turkey and the hegemony built by the USA after the Second World War. He discusses the current America and Turkish-American relations with a meticulous, patient and distant attitude. An ambitious and valuable work that lives up to its claim.

Bulunmayan kitapların bulunduğu, kaliteli hizmetin adresi, ender bir kitapevi...İsminin kürtce olması da ayrıca sebeb-i tercîhim...
