  • Thirty-two The İnce Memed quartet, written over a period of years, is the story of Memed, who rebelled against the order, and Çukurova with its human relations, nature and colors. In Yaşar Kemal's words, it is the novel of a man who 'was born if he had rebellion inside him', a 'compelled man'.

Forced to leave his village due to Abdi Agha's cruelty, Memed kidnaps Hatçe, who is about to marry Agha's niece. Memed, who injured Abdi Agha and killed his nephew, joins the bandit Deli Durdu, but leaves Deli Durdu with his two friends, as he cannot stand his brutality. While Memed is an ordinary village boy, he turns into a bandit for the oppressors and a savior for the villagers.
